INTEL microprocessor

Intel announces the first microprocessor, 4004. Developed for Busicom, Japanese manufacturer of electronic calculators, the 4004 was built by integrating on 2250 transistor chips and could perform up to 90,000 operations per second using a four-bit encoding. Intel's 4004 microprocessor was designed by Federico Faggin and Ted Hoff.
